Yesterday, a pair of burly (yet friendly) piano movers returned the Library’s beloved Steinway to its rightful place on stage at the south end of the Library’s Reading Room, after an extended stay at a Northside piano resort and spa.
Thanks to a generous grant from the George & Margaret McLane Foundation, our 1937 Steinway baby grand is now refreshed, refurbished, and ready for action.
If you have any piano chops, and if you happen to be here when the library is relatively empty, it doesn’t hurt to ask the Librarians if you can take it for a spin. In the past, we have, on occasion, said yes.
