Last week’s By the Book was memorable for two reasons-
1. Trey Devey did a fantastic job.
2. The great deli seven20’s will be closing soon, so this was our last chance to have them cater a BtB talk. I, for one, am tempted to order several pounds of their delicious ring dang doo sandwich (despite the unfortunate name) before it’s too late, only I’m not sure how well the sweet chili mayo will freeze.
Anyway, by request, here’s a list of the books Trey spoke about:
R.L. Stevenson: Treasure Island
Karl Marx: Capital, Volume One
Karl Marx: The Communist Manifesto
Ayn Rand: The Fountainhead
Ayn Rand: Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal
Bryce Courtenay: The Power of One
Dietrich Dörner: The Logic of Failure, Recognizing and Avoiding Error in Complex Situations
Michael Useem: The Leadership Moment, Nine True Stories of Triumph and Disaster and Their Lessons for Us All
Brealey Myers: Principles of Corporate Finance
Peter M. Senge: The Fifth Discipline, The Act and Practice of The Learning Organization
Gary Chapman: The Five Love Languages, The Secret to Love that Lasts
