The Continuing Internet Peregrinations of a Typewriter Fetishist

The bard of Oxford, Miss. catches some rays while working

The Mercantile’s head carpenter and I were chatting the other day about various writers’ modus operandi. It seems to me the more modern homo sapiens turns to PDAs and Smartphones for communication, the greater the romance of the mechanical writing contraptions of yore.  I submit, or rather, pass on, therefore, Flavorwire’s collection of images of word smiths at their machines. Hemingway, apparently, took offence at the photographer’s idealization of “Papa”, which is strange, because that picture in particular sews together rather well the myth and the man.  -Ed Scripsi
