I’ve recently managed to crawl out from under a time consuming reading-for-ca$h gig, and I’m using my new-found freedom to work through some books that have been on my list for a while now, starting with Rudyard Kipling’s Kim.

As usual, I’ll leave full reviewing duties to the pros.  Also as usual, I have a few random comments:

1. Although I enjoyed the book, I was a little surprised to learn that it is #78 on the Modern Library’s list of the top 100 English language novels of the 20th Century.

2. I was further surprised to learn that some people consider it children’s literature.

3. Keep in mind, though, that in terms of reading level,  kids:1901::adults:nowadays.

4. For a kid’s book, it goes surprisingly well with gin.
