Do we know how to pick ’em or what?

Clicking to the MacArthur genius grants in the NYT this morning we landed on the above picture of David Simon in a similar to but slightly more colorful getup than he chose to appear in as the Writer Attempting To Change The World at the Library’s 2010 Harriet Beecher Stowe Lecture last June.  We’re feeling particularly prescient since we booked the now $500,000 richer writer like, maybe, three years ago and can’t help wondering if the MacArthur committee had spies in our ranks.   If, in fact, they do, Stacked followers would be smart to snap up copies of At The Center, the history of the Mercantile Library by Bob Vitz, who can be expected to pick up his half million in 2012.  It’s a limited run of the book, and your copies will become even more valuable.  We’ve read it about sixteen times because we love reading about our Old Timey Self and because it’s a damned good read.
