Hearn available on Cincinnati Public’s Virtual Library

The World of Lafcadio Hearn: Cincinnati and Abroad isn’t just on display in the Rare Books and Special Collections room of the public library, it’s also viewable in the Public Library’s fantastic Virtual Library, which is chock full of good stuff including original letters written by Samuel Langhorne Clemens.  Samuel Langhorne Clemens, by the way, makes a wonderful swear, a fact I believe he of all people would appreciate.  I’m a fan of artist Henry Farny and Hearn’s satirical publication Ye Giglampz, all 12 issues of which are available for online viewing. Hearn’s writing is florid and fun to read, but his doodles and pen and ink sketches are beguiling too.  Here’s a wonderful article in today’s Enquirer on the exhibit, the timeliness of its run, and the man’s fascinating life.  -Ed Scripsi
