Have you ever looked at the clock and suddenly realized it was 4:30 and that you had not posted anything on the blog, even though it’s your day to do so, so you are forced to put up a link to an excellent article that Nemo recently sent you, an article which is, again, excellent, but which has little or nothing to do with the blog’s intended purpose, which is to be a place to post and discuss information about books and/or the Mercantile Library, but since it’s now 4:45 and you have nothing else, you go ahead and post the link anyway, hoping no one will complain?

Well, it happens to me all the time.  Take today, for example…

On second thought, maybe articles about places that stubbornly do things at their own pace, in their own time honored, rest-of-the-world-be-damned way aren’t that far outside the Mercantile’s beat after all.

  1. If this is the wrong place I do apologize. I was wondering if the graphic novel group still met once a month?

    Thank you,

  2. Elizabeth, here’s an email message recently sent by Edmund Osterman, the group’s leader:

This email is a reminder that the Mercantile Library’s graphic novel reading group will Saturday, September 12, at 1:00 p.m. This time, we discuss Carol Tyler’s _Late Bloomer_, copies of which are available at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.

For the first time, we’ll have the pleasure of discussing the work with the author herself, as Ms. Tyler will be attending. Exciting!

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Because the Mercantile Library is undergoing a renovation, we will meet at the Rohs Street Cafe at 245 W. McMillan Street in Clifton Heights (near UC and Hughes High School).

    Looking forward to seeing you!

I know this is kind of last minute, so if you’d like me to ask Edmund to add you to the Graphic Novel Discussion Group email list so you can get a jump on next month’s meeting, write to me at mercantileinfo@mercantilelibrary.com
