Remember what my friend Andrew once said: We’re all going to get e-book readers at some point. We’re just waiting for the right one to come along, whether we realize it or not.
Maybe Sony’s new Reader Daily Edition is the one you’ve been waiting for. It has a touchscreen. Unlike previous versions of Sony’s reader, you can download titles on the fly via the 3G cell network. And, although you have to pay more upfront than you would for a Kindle, once you have the device you can use it to download free books from your local library, instead of paying Amazon $9.99 a pop for new titles.
Personally, I’m waiting for one that costs less than $100, although that might change if the rumors about an upcoming Apple Tablet are true. In the past I have made some pretty terrible fiscal decisions at Steve Job’s behest.
