Alain de Botton- The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work

pleasures_of_work

It is a banner day indeed when I can recommend a book as unreservedly as I hereby recommend The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work by Alain de Botton.  This book is clever, thoughtful, charming, and utterly, utterly hilarious, not to mention amply illustrated.

Alain de Botton’s most recent book (not counting this one) is The Architecture of Happiness.  In September, look for A Week at the Airport, written after sitting at a desk in Heathrow’s Terminal 5 as the airport’s Writer-in-Residence.
