The Prelinger Library on Social Libraries

CIMG1399

I originally posting something about the Prelinger Library, oh, had to have been way back in Ought Seven.  I’m sure you remember… they’re the folks that have ingeniously organized their collection so as to facilitate browsing, rather than the quick retrieval of the precise volume you think you want.

Anyway, I was reminded of the Prelinger’s existence when Scripsi sent me a link to an interesting post on their blog about old timey social libraries.

All of this is just a cheap ploy to leverage my access to Stacked’s vast legions of readers in order to satisfy my own personal curiosity:  Has anyone been to the Prelinger?  Anyone planning a trip to San Francisco and willing to report back with detailed findings?
