The Mercantile Library further en-widened its institutional stance on Saturday: while one of our metaphoric feet remains firmly planted in our glorious and storied history, the other has now toed its way to the outer edges of the modern era itself. You see, on Saturday the Library established what can only be described as a commanding presence on Facebook, or, as Jimmy Breslin recently called it, the YouFace. I will never get tired of referring you to that interview, by the way.

You’ve spent the past few years gaping in bemused astonishment as the three old-timey librarians have struggled to wrap their badly mildewed brains around the concept of blogging.
