The Ohio River Hike and Bike Trail Needs YOU

Another great regional trail: Shaker Trace at Miami Whitewater

It looks as though the long awaited bike trail connecting downtown with Lunken airfield, and ultimately with the Little Miami Scenic trail and Lake Erie, is going to be a reality.  All the Ohio River Bike and Hike Trail Campaign needs is $4M.

$4M!  That’s peanuts for a ride that will make the riverfront more enjoyable, allow riverfront condo dwellers to commute safely and healthily to downtown.  Here’s a missive from the fine folks at  Cyclists of the Mercantile, unite!  Show your support and get the word out.

Greetings to all outdoor enthusiasts
who bike, hike & paddle!

Excitement is growing over the bike trail to link Downtown to Lunken Airport, and eventually to the Little Miami and Ohio River trails! Planning is nearly complete for the launch of a private capital drive to raise the additional four million dollars necessary to supplement public sector funding. As the November kick-off date nears, we need to work together to raise public awareness and support for this project. Please make your support of this project known in your neighborhood, workplace, and with your City and County representatives.

There is an excellent article about the Trail?s progress in last Monday?s Cincinnati Enquirer; to read, please click here. If you have questions about the project, or would like to learn more about how to get involved, please contact Teresa Lubic at

Thank you,

Jan & Wym Portman Co-Chairs
