I used to feel the same about what seem to be ‘forced’ wonderfulness around the holidays. But after sitting alone, quietly watching the leaves of my aging tree fall to the ground year after year, hearing nothing but my own head quietly asking over and over, “What the hell’s going on? This is the whole ball of wax?”… You’ll one day see the wisdom of family and friends shoved up your ass on a calendar basis.
