Monday: Covers from the Hall Collection

This week’s theme is pinko commie illustrators. Rockwell Kent is not, as his name would seem to suggest, a television detective or a newscaster. He was a prolific paintor and illustrator, illuminating the pages of many books. Note how the strong lines of his idealized human forms reflect his leftist ideology. The Library happens to have a copy of the Modern Library edition of Moby Dick, which is filled with Kent’s work, such as this plate.
