Weekend Reading: Orange County vs. Downton Abbey

SavagesWe were interested enough in Don Winslow’s The Kings of Cool that we snatched from the capacious Mercantile fiction shelves Savages, the thriller to which The Kings of Cool was a prequel, accidentally reading the books in historic order.

Winslow has adopted an almost but not quite screenplay style that actually tips over into actual screenplayfulness from time to time.

A lot of white space.  Like 30%?

Took less time to read than it did to watch the outrageously long first episode of DAIII last night.

Shirley McLaine nearly unrecognizable arriving in great American sedan.

Checking mutual fund to make sure no railroads even though Berkshire Hathaway is heavy with all that BNSF
