Aspiring authors are invited to submit manuscripts by November 6, 2012, for the 2013 Young Voices Publication Award. The winning manuscript will be published as an e-book and distributed nationally with royalties to the author. The publisher will also sponsor a limited print run for libraries and collectors.
Criteria: The competition is open to authors ages 18-30. Several students or other individuals may join in presenting a collection. Entries must be prose in the 6,000 to 16,000-word range. Manuscripts will be judged by a panel of experts on literary quality, originality, substance, style, and reader appeal. Each author will receive a written critique.
Genre: Fiction may be in such forms as a short story collection, a history-based fiction, or a novella. Creative nonfiction examples are biography, memoir, history, and commentary. The 2012-2013 contest is not open to poetry or heavily illustrated manuscripts.
